Crooked or crowded teeth is not an uncommon problem. In fact, you can see several adults and children with protruded teeth or an unevenly spaced out mouth. Sometimes, people inherit the way they look, and that goes for their teeth as well. Of course, there could be other reasons too. Inherited or acquired, there is a solution for it when you visit an Orthodontist.
If you suffer from misaligned teeth, then the orthodontist may suggest an orthodontic treatment to fix the problem. With the right pressure from braces and its supporting equipment, it is possible to align the teeth and jaw correctly. The orthodontist can correct the teeth by looking at the degree of alignment needed. For example, if the teeth are too crooked, you might need a palatal expander for the upper jaw and a lingual bar for the lower jaw.
The braces can help aligning the teeth, and as the problem gets corrected slowly, the braces would be adjusted. In the later stages of the treatment, the orthodontist would check on the progress of the teeth, following which he would fix a retainer. This would help the patients maintain their teeth in the corrected position.
Minor problems with the teeth can be corrected by a general dentist dentist, but for complex cases, you would need an orthodontics expert. The treatment process often starts with the dentist examining your teeth and mouth thoroughly, followed by a study of your dental records through X-rays and photos. At our clinic, the orthodontist would then develop a customized treatment plan to correct the teeth. The time required for the treatment would be dependent on the treatment plan. If you suffer from misaligned teeth or have a problem with chewing, drop in to our clinic, and have the experts handle it.
